Meet Finch

A desktop AI agent with memory, multiple models, mini tools, and automation—designed to help people turn ideas into results without learning AI jargon.

What is Finch?

Finch is a lightweight desktop personal assistant for macOS and Windows, built on Pi. You work with it in natural language. It can read and process local files you authorize, retain memory across sessions, and extend its capabilities through mini tools, data services, and scheduled automation.

Coding is Finch's capability foundation, not a requirement for using it. You do not need to learn programming, prompt engineering, or agent terminology first.

Who is Finch for?

Finch is for people who want AI to help realize their ideas without first learning complex AI concepts and workflows.

01

Creators and knowledge workers

Research, reading, organization, writing, and knowledge work. Cross-session memory reduces repeated context setting.

02

Independent developers and product builders

Operate websites, build games or mini apps, process data, and turn natural-language ideas into working results.

03

Individuals and small teams

Prepare reports, create content, collect information, monitor operations, and run recurring tasks on a schedule.

How does Finch help?

Remember context

Retain important information about you, projects, and spaces so new sessions can continue earlier work.

Work with local content

Read, search, create, and edit files inside directories you authorize, connecting conversation to real work.

Choose the right model

Use models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Kimi For Coding, MiniMax, and others, or connect a local model.

Extend capabilities

Connect deterministic code, external services, and specialized workflows through skills, mini tools, and MCP.

Run automation

Schedule recurring desktop tasks such as information collection, operational summaries, and monitoring reports.

Keep human control

Permission controls govern file writes, shell commands, web access, and external actions; sensitive actions require authorization.

Important boundaries

  • Finch is a desktop application for macOS and Windows 10/11, not a mobile app.
  • Whether it works fully offline depends on the model and services you choose; cloud models and online services require a network connection.
  • Finch should only access directories, tools, and accounts you authorize. External actions remain subject to permission controls.
  • Finch lowers the technical barrier to using AI, but you remain responsible for reviewing and confirming its results.
