# Meet Finch

A desktop AI agent with memory, multiple models, mini tools, and automation—designed to help people turn ideas into results without learning AI jargon.

## What is Finch?

Finch is a lightweight desktop personal assistant for macOS, Windows, and Linux (Beta), built on [Pi](https://pi.dev/). You work with it in natural language. It can read and process local files you authorize, retain memory across sessions, and extend its capabilities through mini tools, data services, and scheduled automation.

Coding is Finch's capability foundation, not a requirement for using it. You do not need to learn programming, prompt engineering, or agent terminology first.

## Important boundaries

-   Finch is a desktop application for macOS, Windows 10/11, and Linux (Beta), not a mobile app.
-   Whether it works fully offline depends on the model and services you choose; cloud models and online services require a network connection.
-   Finch should only access directories, tools, and accounts you authorize. External actions remain subject to permission controls.
-   Finch lowers the technical barrier to using AI, but you remain responsible for reviewing and confirming its results.
